Inclusion of Visually Impaired in Online Meetings

When Mijke’s research neared completion, she asked me and my team at Studio Z to help translate her findings into practice. We created a 2D animation that visualised the key insights in an accessible and engaging way. The film was co-created with a group of experts from several universities and, most importantly, with people who are visually or hearing impaired. Their lived experience shaped both the story and the design, ensuring that the film wasn’t just about inclusion, but truly inclusive in itself.
We went on to design a practical toolkit — presentations, infographics, and training materials — to help educators and policymakers apply these insights. Together with Mijke and other stakeholders, I also produced a podcast series that brought these ideas directly to decision-makers, showing how inclusive thinking can guide future crisis policy.
For me, this project was a great opportunity to work across disciplines: as designer, storyteller, and researcher. It reminded me how media can become a bridge, turning research into real, tangible change.
