Performing in that vast, echoing space felt like entering a conversation with the building itself. Each note lingered, collided, and dissolved into the next — blurring the line between control and surrender. The atmosphere was meditative, almost sacred. For once, I wasn’t chasing perfection; I was letting the music breathe me.

This performance marked the first time I allowed real improvisation to shape my live work. Playing partly solo and partly in spontaneous dialogue with Danny Jeroense revealed how vulnerability can become form — how uncertainty can lead to coherence when you dare to trust it.

That night in the Bergkerk opened new pathways for me as a live musician. It sparked an ongoing collaboration with Danny under the name Einder, and it reshaped how I think about performance itself: as a living exchange between sound, space, and the unknown.
